When adopting a “free” pet, or those from another shelter with less services provided, please make sure to take into account what it will cost you to get them fully vetted. The costs below reflect what our partner clinic charges for the same services our shelter pets receive.

adoption fees

Adoption fees are used at Hill Country Animal Rescue to cover the daily cost of care and medical attention of your new adoptive animal while in our care. All adoption fees are non-refundable.

When you adopt a dog or cat from the Hill Country Animal Rescue, he or she has had all age appropriate vaccination, been spayed or neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested or FIV/FeLV tested(if old enough), dewormed, and is current on flea and heartworm prevention.

For puppies under 5 months follow-up DHLPP vaccinations are included in the adoption fee if brought back to our shelter. For kittens under 5 months, follow up vaccinations are available at a reduced cost to adopters if brought back to our shelter. Any additional follow-up care is the adopters responsibility.
